Effective date: 28 April 2026.
Version: 1.0
1. Who we are
This policy is issued by Sorian Holdings Pty Ltd (ABN 40 697 614 930, ACN 697 614 930) ("we", "us", "our"), trading as Sorian Cranes. We design and supply jib cranes, EOT bridge cranes, workstation cranes, gantry cranes and electric hoists, and we install and commission them nationally. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Our registered place of business is Office 4418, Ground Floor, 470 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC 3004. Our privacy contact is privacy@soriancranes.com.au.
2. What personal information we collect
When you interact with us — via this website, phone, email, a site visit, or a quotation — we may collect:
- Identity information: your name, role, company, and business contact details (email, phone, postal and site addresses).
- Project information: technical details of your crane enquiry (capacity, reach, HUB, slew arc, duty class, building type, site conditions, budget band).
- Commercial information: quotation, purchase order and invoicing details where you become a customer.
- Service information: records of inspections, maintenance, certifications and correspondence related to cranes we supply.
- Technical/log data from our website: IP address, device and browser type, referrer, pages visited, and cookie identifiers (see §7).
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act. Please do not send us sensitive information unsolicited.
3. How and why we collect, hold, use and disclose it (APP 5)
We collect personal information directly from you when you submit a quote request, make an enquiry, correspond with us, attend a site meeting, or engage us for work. We collect it so we can:
- respond to your enquiry and issue a quotation;
- deliver design, supply and installation work you engage us for;
- comply with statutory, regulatory and workplace safety obligations (including record-keeping under AS 1418, AS 5229.1, AS 2550 and the Work Health and Safety Acts in the relevant State/Territory);
- provide information about our products and services where you have opted in to receive it; and
- operate and secure this website and our internal systems.
We hold personal information in electronic form on Australian-based business systems and, in the case of contract and compliance records, in secure storage at our registered place of business. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, including access controls, secure passwords, encrypted transmission of data across the public internet, and staff training.
4. Disclosure to third parties
We may disclose personal information to:
- our staff, contractors and service providers (including subcontracted fabricators, installers and structural engineers engaged for a specific project), under confidentiality obligations;
- our professional advisors (legal, accounting, insurance);
- government agencies, courts or regulators where required by law;
- our IT, email and cloud-hosting providers, which are either located in Australia or are bound by contractual data-handling obligations that meet Australian standards.
5. Overseas disclosure (APP 8)
We use Microsoft 365 for email and document handling. As a result, personal information you send to us by email or submit through this website may be processed and stored on Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, which routinely involves transit to and storage on servers located outside Australia (typically in the United States and other regions where Microsoft operates data centres). Microsoft is bound by its own privacy and data-handling commitments under contractual terms that meet Australian standards.
Other than this Microsoft 365 routing, we do not routinely disclose personal information to overseas recipients. If our overseas-disclosure arrangements change, we will update this policy.
6. Direct marketing (Spam Act 2003 compliance)
We only send marketing communications to individuals who have expressly consented or whose contact details we collected in circumstances where they would reasonably expect such communications. Every marketing email contains clear sender identification and a functional unsubscribe facility.
When you submit a form on this website, the tick-box for marketing communications is unchecked by default. Opting in is separate from submitting your enquiry — you will receive a response to your enquiry regardless of whether you opt in.
To opt out of direct marketing at any time, email privacy@soriancranes.com.au or follow the unsubscribe link in any marketing message.
7. Cookies and website analytics
This website uses first-party cookies to remember your consent preferences. We do not run advertising trackers.
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-X41Z4K2824) to measure aggregate site usage — pages viewed, time on page, referrer and click-paths. Information collected via Analytics is handled by Google LLC in accordance with Google's own privacy terms, and may be processed and stored on infrastructure located outside Australia. We do not enable Google Analytics' optional advertising-personalisation or signals features, and we do not combine Analytics data with personally identifying records held in our business systems.
8. How to access or correct your information (APP 12, APP 13)
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing privacy@soriancranes.com.au or writing to our privacy contact. We will respond within a reasonable time (generally 30 days) and will not charge you for making a request, though reasonable costs may apply to the supply of voluminous records.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at privacy@soriancranes.com.au. We will acknowledge receipt within 7 days and aim to resolve complaints within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au, telephone 1300 363 992.
10. Retention and destruction
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to serve the purposes set out above, to comply with our legal obligations (including statutory limitation periods for product liability and WHS record-keeping), and to resolve disputes. When it is no longer required, we destroy it securely or de-identify it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this URL. Material changes will be dated at the top of the document.
