Crane Manufacturer Australia — Engineer-Designed and Nationally Installed

Sorian Cranes designs, supplies and installs the full range of overhead lifting equipment across every Australian state and territory. Jib cranes, EOT bridge cranes, workstation crane systems, gantry cranes and electric hoists — every job specified by a qualified mechanical engineer to AS 1418 and AS 2550. National install capability from a Melbourne base.

The full crane range — supplied across Australia

From a 125 kg workshop jib to a 50-tonne double-girder EOT, Sorian engineers each crane to the actual application. We work across five product families:

  • Jib cranes — freestanding, wall-mounted, pillar-mounted, articulated. 125 kg to 5 t, reach to 6 m. Workshop point-of-use lifting.
  • Overhead EOT bridge cranes — single and double-girder, top-running and underslung. Up to 50 t, spans to 28 m. Full-bay coverage.
  • Workstation cranes — aluminium and steel rail systems, up to 2 t, span to 14 m. Repetitive light-load lifting.
  • Gantry cranes — workshop, portal, mobile and fixed. 500 kg to 6 t.
  • Electric hoists — chain and wire rope, 125 kg to 250 t.

Engineer-led — what that actually means

Most crane suppliers in the Australian market work off a catalogue. You tell them your capacity, they pick a model number, fabrication and install follow. That works fine when the catalogue happens to match your application. It fails when the structure, duty cycle, environmental load or floor condition isn't a textbook case.

Sorian works the other way around. Every quote begins with an engineering review: capacity, duty class per AS 1418, runway loads, column and base plate sizing, anchor design, foundation requirements, environmental factors. The crane gets specified for your actual application. You get a calculation pack with the quote — not after the order.

State-by-state coverage

National install capability with state-specific compliance management. Each state has its own WHS / WorkSafe regime — we prepare the design documentation needed for lodgement in your jurisdiction, with formal sign-off coordinated through appropriately accredited engineers where required.

  • Victoria — WorkSafe Victoria. Melbourne metro plus Geelong, Latrobe Valley, Ballarat, Bendigo.
  • New South Wales — SafeWork NSW. Sydney metro plus Newcastle, Wollongong, the Hunter Valley.
  • Queensland — WorkSafe Queensland. Brisbane metro plus Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Mackay, Townsville, Bowen Basin.
  • Western Australia — WorkSafe WA. Perth metro plus Henderson, Kewdale, Kalgoorlie, the Pilbara.
  • South Australia — SafeWork SA. Adelaide metro plus Whyalla and the Riverland.
  • Tasmania, NT, ACT — install crews mobilised per project; design documentation prepared for state-specific lodgement.

Compliance — Australian Standards

Every crane we supply is designed to the relevant parts of AS 1418 (the Australian crane design standard) and AS 2550 (safe use, in-service inspection). We supply the full engineering documentation pack: calculations, drawings, design certificate, O&M manuals, and compliance records for plant register. Sign-off for WorkSafe / SafeWork lodgement is coordinated through appropriately accredited engineers where required.

Service and inspection across Australia

Beyond supply and install, Sorian provides ongoing service: annual inspections, 10-yearly major inspections, breakdown response, refurbishment and re-rating. Inspection programs available across all states, with city-based service hubs in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
